This book is hilarious. I chose it as our first read aloud this year. It's a quick read and rea lly grabbed everyone's attention. The illustrations are hilarious.

The author is from Australia and apparently he is an actor and comedian. I'm not surprised!

The end has a big cliff hanger that makes you HAVE to read book 2!

Monica Arnoldo's story are a little bit crazy! This one wasn't that crazy to my class though. It was logical. Of course a bed has feelings! Of course it feels unappreciated and used. Some funny things to talk about! They especially loved the stinky stuff under the bed.

Fing (David Walliams)

 

I've never read a David Walliams book aloud before. I don't even think I've read one of his books...but I decided to read this one to my class because I felt like we needed something crazy that they'd really enjoy a good laugh about. When I was reading, my students had some serious belly laughs and it was a delight to see them enjoy it so much. It is especially "explosively funny" if you are 8 years old.

In this story, Myrtle is a terribly spoiled and rotten child. In the end, she gets her due....thank goodness!

Only Aaron Reynolds (of Creepy Carrots fame) and Dan Santat could pull off a book with one word. It's on every page and it makes sense.

It's totally about this platypus and this beaver who are friends. They want to go surfing but dude, there's this shark who's in the ocean, too.

But don't worry. This shark approaches and you'll never guess what happens.

Hensel and Gretel Ninja Chicks (Corey Rosen Schwarts and Rebecca Gomez, Illustrated by Dan Santat)

 

Totally Dan Santat style. Funny and amazing illustrations. This one will be really enjoyed!
